Condensed Milk Biscuits

This well known recipe has been around for a long time. These are very easy to make and the recipe makes around 60 to 70 large sized biscuits or 120 smaller or bite sized biscuits.  They usually fill 3 to 4 normal sized baking trays.

Ingredients
500 grams of butter (or 1.1 lbs)
1 tin of condensed milk (400 grams or 14 oz tin)
1 cup of sugar
5 cups of self raising flour (or 5 cups of flour with 5 tsps of baking powder).

Method
Cream butter and sugar together till light and fluffy, then beat in the condensed milk until well combined.

Stir in the self raising flour.  At this stage you can add whatever you wish to the whole mix or divide the mixture and make more than one type e.g. raisins, chocolate chips, trail mix, nuts, flavoured essences.

Roll into small balls and place on a greased baking tray or on baking paper on the tray.  Bake at 180C for around 15 to 20 minutes.

If you like your biscuits with a softer texture you can bake them until they are only just browned like the ones with chocolate chips I baked in the top photo or if you prefer them crisper and crunchier you can brown them longer like the sultana biscuits pictured below I made from the same batch of mixture.
