Ingredients
60 grams (2 oz) butter or margarine
2 tablespoons of flour
1 egg
3 ripe mashed bananas
Half a cup of chopped dates
1 x 5 ml teaspoon of Sugromax liquid sweetener (or half a cup of sugar)
1 cup of wholemeal flour
1 cup of white flour
1 teaspoon of mixed spice
2 teaspoons of baking powder
2 teaspoons of baking soda.
½ cup of milk

Method
Cream
together the butter, flour and egg.
Mix
in the bananas, dates and sweetener.
Sift
together all the dry ingredients and add them to the butter and banana mixture
alternately with the milk.
Add a half a cup of chopped walnuts if desired.
Put mixture in a greased tin and bake at 180C (350F) for about 45 minutes until browned.
When cool ice with cream cheese or other frosting as desired.
